Body detox usually means harsh procedures that include complete fasting. But these methods are not suitable for everyone. People with low blood sugar and low blood pressure may experience unpleasant and even unbearable symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, nausea, headaches, etc.
If you are one of those people, or you simply feel uncomfortable to start a detox procedure abstaining from food, you can try this simple method.
The Rice & Fruits Gentle Detox
This detox procedure is very simple and easy to do. All you need is 50-100 g (half cup) rice,
preferably brown rice, 1-2 kilos apples (or any other fruits you like) and 2 liters pure warm water or unsweetened tea. Boil the rice in 1 liter water; you may add some parsley, fennel, diet salt, lemon juice, or other vegetables, but do not add any fat. It should have the consistency of soup. But do not throw away the rice water! I will explain later. Divide the rice and the fruits into 5 portions for each meal. And that’s it! These fruit/rice days are perfect for people with high blood pressure, and women suffering from PMS. The rice grains absorb the Sodium from the body, which is the main cause of water retaining and bloating. In this way we take excess fluids and toxins out of our system.
Why brown rice?
If you have to choose between white and brown rice, I would advise you to pick the brown one. These two kinds of foods have some differences and it’s not just their color. The main important contrast is that brown rice is whole grain unlike the white one. White rice is a processed food, stripped from its shell and therefore has lost some of its natural beneficial nutrients. In this line of thought, brown rice is more natural and closer to its natural state. Keeping the grain’s coat, we also keep its fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Speaking of fiber, I hear a lot of people underestimating its significance. “We don’t need cellulose, because we cannot digest it! ” Actually, that’s just half true. Yes, we cannot break down the insoluble fiber unlike ruminants. But we need cellulose for physically cleansing the colon – it acts like a brush to the colon’s wall, preventing from constipation and cancer cells formation. Fibers also slow down the digestion of carbohydrates and thus keeping the blood sugar and insulin at low levels. (Brown rice has a much lower glycemic index than the white grain). And we know how important that is for our health and slender silhouette.

If you include this unrefined grain in your menu (or even better – do the rice & fruits detox regularly), you will significantly lower the risk of developing hypertension and diabetes and its consequences. Moreover, it has a lot of Manganese, which plays an important part in the breakdown of fats in our bodies. It also boosts the work of the reproductive systems for both men and women.

Drink your rice water!
As I mentioned earlier, when preparing your rice for this cleansing method keep the bullion and drink it throughout the day. As you may have guessed, when we boil plants, herbs, grains, etc., some of their nutrients, vitamins, and minerals will go in the water. So, our rice decoction will have some beneficial health values. Here are some of them: rice water contains essential amino acids, Vitamins B1, B2 and B3 (niacin), as well as Potassium, Zinc, Iron and Selenium. These compounds help our bodies cope with stress, prevent cancer, and keep the thyroid gland in good shape. Rice water is especially useful for children because it is easily digestible. It also promotes probiotics and beneficial colon bacteria to multiply, boosting the immune system.
