Keto Panna Cotta Recipe (Sugar Free Panna Cotta)
If you are a regular follower of this blog, you may have noticed that I love jiggly recipes with lots of gelatin! For example: low carb raspberry jelly, no-bake jelly cake, strawberry pudding, and the probiotic panna cotta recipe.
I love panna cotta and my previous variation with Bulgarian yogurt was such a hit in our family that I decided to make an even better diet-friendly option – a keto coconut panna cotta for diabetics!
This is a 100% guilt-free variation suitable for all those who are following the LCHF diet plan, a gluten-free regimen, those excluding dairy from their menu, and even people who are on a religious fast with vegan foods (lent), etc.
But first… a bit of interesting info about today’s delicious healthy dessert!
Where is panna cotta from?
Panna cotta is a traditional mouthwatering dessert coming from beautiful Italy. The Italians sure know how to make delicious meals!
What’s panna cotta made of?
The traditional Italian panna cotta recipe consists of heavy cream sweetened with sugar, gelatin, and some homemade fruit jam.
But since these ingredients do not work for some people (especially the sugar and dairy), today we will be making a completely different low carb friendly variation – the best keto panna cotta recipe (in my opinion, of course!).
Is panna cotta gluten free?
The most common panna cotta recipe should be gluten-free since it does not contain any compounds related to this notorious wheat protein.
However, if you are buying this delicious dessert from the store or at a restaurant, the ingredients may have been in contact with gluten. This is extremely important for people with serious cases of gluten intolerance, celiac disease, some thyroid conditions, etc.
So, it is always a good idea to make it on your own at home in order to have full control over the products used and the whole preparation process.
Is panna cotta vegetarian?
Yes, but keep in mind it is not vegan.
For a vegan version, read the tips and suggestions below!
Is panna cotta keto friendly?

How to make panna cotta keto?
Our low carb panna cotta recipe suggestion is very easy to make and the options are endless!
In the recipe card below you can see one variation for a diabetic panna cotta recipe, but there are many more ideas you can explore and experiment with.
For sweetness, you can add your favorite keto-friendly fruits (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, mulberries, etc.). And if that’s not enough, you can supplement with a little bit of stevia, xylitol, erythritol, monk fruit extract, etc.
Decorate your keto Italian dessert with some berry jam (here’s mine using gelatin). Just make sure it is warm or it will be too stiff to pour on top of the dessert.
How to make panna cotta vegan?
For a dairy free sugar free panna cotta, you can use any type of low carb vegan milk you choose – coconut milk, almond milk, hemp milk, etc. Also, do not forget about coconut cream, coconut yogurt, and coconut kefir! These are all excellent choices, but read the labels carefully to check whether they are low carb-friendly!
As for gelatinizing your vegan low carb panna cotta, substitute the gelatin with agar-agar.
Decorate your lactose free panna cotta recipe with a simple berry reduction sauce. It is very easy to do – just blend some low carb berries into a creamy consistency and heat them at low temperature. Stir this sweet mass until you can evaporate as much water as possible! Voila! You have your yummy vegan and low carb approved panna cotta sauce!
