Today’s recipe is something I believe everyone would like – a healthy homemade dark chocolate which is dairy-free, paleo, and with a possible low carb version. But more this – below.
I know chocolate is the Achilles heel for most people because of its tantalizing taste and stimulating properties! So, why not make a healthy variation of this delicious food? And even more – why not add some sneaky metabolism-boosting ingredients for even better results!

It is designed to stimulate the blood flow, speed the metabolism naturally, and supply the body with healthy fats which are essential for the weight-loss process! But is homemade chocolate really healthy?
My short answer is “It depends.” It depends on the actual ingredients we put in our homemade dark chocolate candies. If the recipe calls for lots of white sugar and other artificial compounds, logically, the end result will not be very healthy. And that’s actually the beauty of making our own food – the complete control over the ingredients! After all, most store-bought chocolate bars are packed with sugar, preservatives, dyes, and other hard-to-pronounce additives!
How to make homemade chocolate?
For this homemade dark chocolate candy bar recipe we will be using only healthy ingredients that nourish our bodies with healthy fats, carbs, and metabolism-boosting spices stimulating the blood flow.
And the best, news is – the preparation process is very easy and straightforward! You don’t have to worry about dealing with any animal products or difficult cooking techniques! Actually, my original dark chocolate weight loss recipe contains raw honey, but if you want to make it 100% vegan – just switch to maple syrup or coconut sugar! Easy as that! For the followers of the keto diet, just use your favorite low carb approved sweetener – erythritol, xylitol, stevia (preferably liquid), Swerve©, monk fruit extract, etc. Keep the dosages small for some of these may cause a bit of digestive disturbances!
The base for our delicious vegan chocolate candies are the two most popular and ultra-healthy fat sources – coconut butter and cocoa butter. They are perfect for adding lots of nutritional saturated fats and forming the hard texture of the dessert (on low temperature).
And finally, the two indispensable ingredients which make this a hot chocolate recipe for weight loss – cacao powder and chili pepper powder (or Cayenne pepper). They have super stimulating, invigorating, and warming properties which make this a perfect post workout treat!
Will this homemade chocolate melt at room temperature?
Again, it depends.
As mentioned previously, the base of these homemade dark chocolate candies consists of fat sources with saturated fatty acids which harden at low temperatures. Cocoa butter has a melting point of around 38 °C (101 °F) while coconut butter’s point is 25 °C (77 °F). So, if the room temperature is between these numbers, there is a high chance our chocolate will melt. In this case, you can add more cocoa butter instead of coconut to make it more heat resistant and store the product in the fridge to maintain its shape.
