Is strawberry pudding healthy?

Sadly, the commercial pudding products are not very healthy. What a shocker! 😀

The most popular store bought desserts are usually packed with starches, white sugar, preservatives, artificial flavors, food dyes, etc. These are definitely not the best ingredients to put in our bodies!

Starches often contain gluten and we know what happens with the wheat protein overindulgence! Bloating, gut inflammation, irregular bowel movement, mood swings, and so on and so on. You can learn all about the gluten dangers right here (even if you think you don’t gave gluten sensitivity!)

Even if the pudding contains gluten free starches (like commercial cornstarch or the gluten free potato starch, for example), they are still in the unhealthy carbohydrates list because they are quickly absorbed by our bodies raising the blood sugar level and the insulin. Now that’s fattening!

Speaking of weight gain, white sugar is the other main culprit for it. And most store bought pudding powder mix products have it in large amounts! Ugh!

Can you make strawberry pudding healthy?

How can we enjoy a cup of this delicious strawberry pudding recipe without all this junk?

My solution is very simple – I present to you my favorite healthy gluten free strawberry pudding recipe!

This healthy dessert is special because it’s a little unorthodox. If you take a peek at the ingredients you might be quite surprised! I mean a cream cheese dessert recipe? Or sour cream for dessert? But bear with me! Once you try this gluten free strawberry pudding recipe, you will be delighted!

It has its distinct dairy taste but enhanced with some of my favorite fruit flavors – strawberries and pears! And the texture is… mmmmmm…

I can’t begin to tell you how awesome this dessert it!

The cream cheese and the sour cream supply our bodies with healthy fats and essential amino acids. These make this gluten free strawberry pudding recipe perfect for those who wish to drop a few pounds, especially after a workout! You know this is the ideal moment to take some additional proteins and add this dessert to your healthy complex carbs list!

Speaking of carbs, we have some excellent sources of these important macro-nutrients – fruits and a little bit of honey. The strawberries and the pear are perfect for supplying fiber which slows down the abortion of the fructose. On the other hand, honey is awesome for its numerous health benefits with its amazing nutritional value, anti-septic, and immune-boosting properties.

I mean, you can absolutely consume this delicious gluten free strawberry pudding right away after preparation, but you can also experiment! You can use it as a healthy post workout snack, an addition to your fiber packed breakfast recipe, a healthy mid afternoon snack, or this can be a wonderful gluten free cake frosting recipe you can try (for example, you can substitute the raspberry jelly in my previous no bake wheat free cake) or even as a no bake cheesecake filling!

The possibilities are endless!

Instructions
  1. Start preparing the strawberry pudding by cutting the pear and removing its seeds.
  2. Next, place the sour cream, the cream cheese, the pear, and the strawberries in a blender and stir.
  3. In a while, add the honey and continue blending the ingredients.
  4. Now it’s time to dissolve the gelatin – mix it with the water and wait a little bit for it to start bulging.
  5. Next, place the gelatin in a double boiler (a metal pot with water) and heat it.
  6. Stir until it becomes completely transparent.
  7. Now add the liquid gelatin to the strawberry pudding mixture in the blender and stir again.
  8. When all ingredients are fully mixed and blended, pour the pudding in suitable glass cups and let them cool in the fridge.
  9. The gluten-free sugar-free strawberry pudding is ready! Enjoy!
