To put it simply, this branch of this ancient self-reflective system deals with the deeper more spiritual and transcendental parts of the human being! It is often called Karmic Astrology since its main goal is to help us understand our soul’s journey through the numerous incarnations, and the life lessons we need to learn or the emotional challenges we have to face, heal, and transform. That is why the esoteric Astrology does not focus on the more mundane part of our lives. It looks at our current incarnation in the context of the bigger picture – the immortal part of our being that grows and evolves in the span of multiple lives, centuries, and millennia.

Karmic Astrology Series by Martin Schulman
Since I touched on the subject of life lessons through different incarnations, you may be interested in learning more about this perspective of the natal chart. Well, to me, the whole chart is a reflection of our past-lives’ karma, but still… you can dive deeper into this type of analysis with books dedicated specifically to this topic. I think that Martin Schulman’s series is probably one of the best ones on the subject.
Volume 1 will show you the significance of the Lunar nodes in the karmic Astrology analysis. It will help you understand the meaning of the placements of these essential points by astrological sign, by house, and their aspects with the planets.
Volume 2 is heavily focused on the retrograde planets in the chart. You will see how they can be analyzed through the lenses of past lives depending on their placements by sign and house.
Volume 3 will definitely be extremely interesting to you since it will show you how the part of Fortune can signify some of the lessons we need to learn from the perspective of Karmic Astrology!

Since we are still on the topic of Karma, I would also like to recommend a wonderful book dedicated specifically to the Lunar nodes. What separates this book from the other ones in this genre is the practicality. You will not only learn about your potential karmic lessons, but also some valuable tools and techniques how to deal with the challenging aspects of this process!
“L’Astrologie karmique” by Dorothée Kœchlin de Bizemont
This is another masterpiece on the topic of karma and Astrology! Sadly, I am not sure if it has an English translation. If you can find some way of translating this book, I think it will be of great value! It contains a wealth of information on pretty much every aspect of the chart analyzed from the perspective of Karmic Astrology – the elements, the signs, the planets, the houses (especially the water houses), the Ascendants, the aspects, the Lunar nodes, etc.
