Brown Rice and Mineral Water Cleanse (Gentle Way to Cleanse the Colon)
Body detox usually means harsh procedures that include complete fasting. But these methods are not suitable for everyone. People with low blood sugar and low blood pressure may experience unpleasant and even unbearable symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, nausea, headaches, etc.
If you are one of those people, or you simply feel uncomfortable to start a detox procedure abstaining from food, you can try this simple method. Also, always consult with your doctor before applying any detox procedure, even gentle ones like today’s brown rice cleanse recipe!

Macrobiotic brown rice cleanse
Here is how to do a gentle colon cleanse – the procedure is very simple and easy to do.
All you need is 50-100 g (half cup) rice, preferably brown rice, 1-2 kilos of apples (or any other fruits you like) and 2 liters of pure warm water or unsweetened tea. I use mineral water or filtered with a charcoal pitcher to save some cash!
Boil the rice in 1 liter water; you may add some parsley, fennel, diet salt, lemon juice, or other vegetables, but do not add any fat. It should have the consistency of soup. But do not throw away the rice water! I will explain later.
Divide the rice and the fruits into 5 portions for each meal. And that’s it! These fruit/rice days are perfect for people with high blood pressure, and women suffering from PMS. The rice grains absorb the Sodium from the body, which is the main cause of water retention and bloating. In this way, we take excess fluids and toxins out of our system.

How long to do this fast?
This recipe is intended as a gentle weekly one-day purification ritual, but if you are feeling well and you feel the need to do more, you can extend it to a 7 day brown rice cleanse, or a 10-day detox, etc. Just remember – this is not a weight-loss diet! This is for all who wish to take a break from processed food and increase their fiber consumption! That’s all you need to do as a beginner!
Why brown rice – one of the best high fiber foods for colon cleanse?
The main important contrast is that brown rice is whole grain unlike the white one. White rice is a processed food, stripped from its shell and therefore has lost some of its natural beneficial nutrients. In this line of thought, brown rice is more natural and closer to its original state.
Keeping the grain’s coat, we also keep its fiber, vitamins, and minerals.
Speaking of fiber, I hear a lot of people underestimating its significance. “We don’t need cellulose, because we cannot digest it! ” Actually, that’s just half true. Yes, we cannot break down the water insoluble fiber unlike ruminants. But we need cellulose for physically cleansing the colon – it acts like a brush to the colon’s wall, preventing from constipation and cancer cells formation. This answers the frequently asked question “Does fiber cleanse your colon?”.
Fiber also slows down the digestion of carbohydrates and thus keeping the blood sugar and insulin at low levels. (Brown rice has a much lower glycemic index than the white grain). And we know how important that is for our health and slender silhouette.
Speaking of the low glycemic index, the best way to keep your blood sugar level low is by decreasing the consumption of sugars and simple carbohydrates! And one of the best diet plan to achieve that is the HFLC diet plan (after you consult with your doctor!).

If you include this unrefined grain in your menu (or even better – do the rice and fruits cleanse regularly), you will significantly lower the risk of developing hypertension and diabetes and its consequences. Brown rice is rich in Selenium, which may reduce the risk of cancer, arthritis, cardiovascular, and thyroid diseases.
Moreover, it has a lot of Manganese, which plays an important part in the breakdown of fats in our bodies. It also boosts the work of the reproductive systems for both men and women.
Eat brown rice often and it will help you combat age, free radicals, and disease-causing microorganisms for its good amount of antioxidants.

Drink your rice water!
As I mentioned earlier, when preparing your recipe for this brown rice colon cleanse, keep the bullion (the rice stock) and drink it throughout the day.
As you may have guessed, when we cook plants, herbs, grains, etc., some of their nutrients, vitamins, and minerals will remain in the water. So, our rice decoction will have some beneficial health values as well.
Here are some of them: rice water contains essential amino acids, Vitamins B1, B2 and B3 (niacin), as well as Potassium, Zinc, Iron, and Selenium. These compounds help our bodies cope with stress, prevent cancer, and keep the thyroid gland in good shape.
Rice water is especially useful for children because it is easily digestible. It also promotes probiotics and beneficial colon bacteria to multiply, thus boosting the immune system.
In short, rice water:
- is the number one natural remedy for nausea and vomiting;
- helps tremendously against gastroenteritis and diarrhea (tested it myself multiple times 😀 );
- regulates the blood pressure;
